Soft Pretzels ~ Recipe submitted:  Fran Banks ~ Freedom, Pennsylvania

1 package yeast
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsp salt
4 cups flour
1 egg yolk
coarse salt

1.  Dissolve yeast in 1½ cups lukewarm water (see package instructions). Add
sugar and salt; stir until dissolved. Add flour; mix well.

2.  Turn dough onto flour board. Knead for about 5 minutes. Roll into thin strips;
shape into pretzels.

3.  Place on well-greased cookie sheet. Beat egg yolk with 1 tablespoon water;
brush on pretzels. Sprinkle generously with coarse salt.


4. Bake in 425 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
