Spicy Fried Pork Chops II  ~

8 pork chops, each about ½-inch thick ( about 2 lbs )
salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp peanut, vegetable or corn oil
1½ cups finely chopped onions
2 tsp finely minced garlic
1 cup water
½ tsp ground comino (cumin)
⅛ tsp paprika
½ tsp turmeric
1 bay leaf

1.  Sprinkle the chops with salt & pepper.

2.  Heat the oil in a heavy skillet large enough to hold the chops in one layer.  Add
the chops and cook until nicely browned on one side, about 5-6 minutes.  Turn
the chops and cook on the other side about 5 minutes.  Pour off all the fat from
the skillet.

3.  Return the skillet to the heat and scatter onions and garlic around the chops.
Cook briefly, stirring.  Add the water and sprinkle the chops with the comino,
paprika, turmeric and bay leaf.  Cover closely and cook about 30 minutes over
low heat.

4.  Place chops on a serving platter, pour the resulting sauce over the chops and
serve.
