
| Ham Steaks with Sweet Potatoes ~ This recipes comes from a card found in a Military Commissary. The cards are from Try-Foods visit their website. www.tryfoods.com 1 lb ham steak, cut into 4 portions 1 can (17-23 oz.) sweet potatoes in syrup ½ cup packed brown sugar 3 tbsp butter 1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown ham on both sides until heated through. Remove and keep warm. Meanwhile, drain sweet potatoes, reserving 2 tablespoons syrup. 2. Add reserved syrup, brown sugar and butter to skillet. Heat, stirring until smooth. 3. Add sweet potatoes and heat through, stirring gently to glaze potatoes. 4. Serve potatoes with ham. Serves 4. Notes: Look for ham that is finely grained and rosy pink. Wrap well to ensure that it will not dry out or absorb food odors. Store in refrigerator for up to 4 days. Ham steaks can be fried, baked or broiled. Some ham steaks may have a small piece of bone in the center. This bone should be removed before serving. |
