2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp double-acting baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
½ cup cold vegetable shortening
2/3 cup plus 2 tbsp buttermilk

Into a bowl sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.  Add salt
and cut in until it resembles meal.  Add the buttermilk and stir until it just forms
dough. Bake at 425 degrees F, unless directed otherwise in the recipes calling
for this dough.
