The Porta Nigra - The monumental northern gateway of the roman city fortifications is the largest Roman fortified gateway still in existence, being some 36 meters long,
23 meters wide and 30 meters high. The massive structure, erected at the end of the second century A. D., was constructed using sandstone blocks without any
mortar. The pillars and entablature of the external decoration are in part only roughly finished, heightening its Cyclopean and defensive appearance. In the eleventh
century the gateway was rebuilt as a church dedicated to St. Simeon - who had previously lived here as a hermit - with a choir in the forms of Lorraine Romanesque
style being added about 1150. Emperor Napoleon I had the later additions demolished and the gateway restored. Info from internet

Called a pyramid these range in size
from a couple of inches to well over 50
feet. A pyramid about 8-inches tall
could be worth hundreds.
